                         Marylin E. Atkins, Chief Judge
Judge Marylin E. Atkins earned a B.A. in Psychology from Saginaw Valley State University in 1973. She was employed with the Michigan Employment Security Commission from 1973 until 1980. She graduated from the University of Detroit School of Law and was admitted to the State Bar of Michigan and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan in June, 1980. 

 

Judge Atkins served as an Assistant Attorney General; Member, Worker's Compensation Appeal Board; Chairperson Worker's Compensation Appeal Board; and Magistrate, 36th District Court prior to being appointed to the bench in March, 1994.

She is a member of many civic organizations and participates in mentoring programs for children and young adults. Judge Atkins was appointed Chief Judge Pro Tem May 1, 1999, serving until December 31, 1999. She was appointed Chief Judge effective January 1, 2000.
