Judge
Robbins began his legal career in public service as an
Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Detroit Law
Department. He
was assigned to the Ordinance Enforcement Division under Judge
Joseph N. Baltimore. He
was then promoted to the Police Affairs Division where he
remained until his departure from the City Law Department in
1989. Robbins
then continued his legal career with Kmart Corporation as a
Public Liability Attorney.
In November 2001, Judge Robbins returned to public
service as Assistant General Counsel for the Detroit Public
Schools. In
addition, he was a lecturer on Business Law courses at
Davenport University until his appointment as judge.
Judge Robbins participates as a mentor for
various youth organizations in Detroit. He believes that, through the fair administration of justice and a
strong focus on education, today’s youth will be better equipped to become
productive community leaders rather than jail inmates. He participates in the
Handgun Intervention Program in the 36th District Court, which
promotes accountability and responsibility to the communities. He remains committed to programs instituted
by the 36th District Court including Drug Court, the Domestic Violence Program, the Misdemeanor
Morality Programs and the Juvenile Reality Program.
Judge Robbins’ professional and civic affiliations include the Wolverine Bar Association,
NAACP Life Member, United Way Community Services and Case Evaluator for 36th
District Court to name a few. He is a member of Greater Christ Baptist Church and is actively involved
in the Anointed Men of God Mentor Program.
Judge Kevin F. Robbins’ combination of public and private law practice has well prepared him
to assume his most recent appointment in one of the busiest courts in the State
of Michigan.
