Judge
Donna Robinson Milhouse was appointed by the 36th District Court
in February 2000. She is a native Detroiter and had over 15
years of experience as an attorney in both the state and federal
court systems, prior to joining the bench.
She attended Eastern Michigan University on a tennis
scholarship, earning her Bachelor of Business Administration
degree in 1981. She received her law degree from Wayne State
University Law School in 1984.

Judge Milhouse began her legal career at the law firm of Hill Lewis
(now Clark Hill, PLC) where she became a partner. In 1994, Judge
Milhouse joined AAA Michigan as an Assistant General Counsel,
where she continued to practice law until her appointment to
the bench.
Judge Milhouse has demonstrated her commitment to the Detroit community
through her lifelong residence, volunteer service on community
boards, membership in civic and professional organizations,
and other volunteer work. Her service includes Vice Chair and
Chair of the Detroit Empowerment Zone Development Corporation
Board of Directors, Eastern Michigan University Board of Regents,
Trustee and 2nd Vice Chair of United Health Organization, Wolverine
Bar Association Board of Directors, volunteer lawyer for the
Domestic Assault Injunctions Project, and frequent guest speaker
at school career days. Judge
Milhouse is also a member of the Association of Black Judges
of Michigan, Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association, NAACP, Women's
Economic Club, and Women Lawyers Association of Michigan.
Judge Milhouse was named Member of the Year by the Wolverine Bar Association in 1998 for her volunteer efforts
with the organization. She is also a recipient of the YMCA Minority
Achievers Award. Judge Milhouse lives in Detroit with her husband,
police officer Otis Milhouse, and their two children.
